Well, I have been Christian since before I can remember, so I guess Christianity is a big role in my life.
How does your belief system impact what you create/how you present yourself?
As a Christian, I believe we are all God’s children, and we should all love each other no matter the race or gender. I treat everyone the way they want to be treated.
How does your belief system impact how you see the world/surroundings?
I see everyone in a positive way. I know a lot of people who judge others so easily, and I catch myself doing it sometimes too. I try to see the people around me in a nonjudgmental way.
Have your beliefs changed since you were a kid?
I’m more serious about my beliefs, but they haven’t changed too much because my parent’s enforced it so much in my home. Now, it’s just something I actually believe and take seriously.
What do you know?
I’m certain that we are all going to die at one point. But um, I’m not sure how to answer that.
How do your beliefs affect the relationships you have with others?
Depending on what the person's actions are, if they were rude to me, I would try to see them through a positive mindset first. Also, my religion keeps me from doing certain things. Our generation and people in general, like to party and do things that can harm their bodies in a lot of way. I’ve done many things before, but I try to stay away from harmful substances. We only have one life, so I don’t want to waste it on doing that kind of stuff.
What are you afraid of?
I am very afraid of dying, so whenever I skate I’m like, “Well, this could kill me if I mess up.” Sometimes when I try a new trick I’ll psych myself out. The fact that everything could be over in a second is scary.
What gets you up in the morning?
Knowing that I’m going to be better than I was yesterday.
At what point in your life have you felt most vulnerable?
Before I skated, I didn’t really do any sports and I didn’t have a hobby so I just kind of sat in my house. I was made fun of a lot because I didn’t do anything, and whenever I tried a sport it wouldn’t work. I felt pretty vulnerable every time I tried to do something I wasn’t comfortable with.
Where do you find peace?
I find peace when I’m alone, quiet, and surrounded by music.
What is happiness?
It’s being able to go out and skate and not worrying about anything.
When will you be happy?
Once I finish senior year.
What is success?
Success to me is having a stable job where I don’t have to worry about financial problems, and still being able to do the things I like to do.
What is love?
I don’t know, I haven’t been in love. But love for family is them knowing you care for them and that you would do anything for them, basic cheesy stuff.
